Upcoming Rain Causes Concern for Jackson County

Jackson County officials are issuing a state of emergency due to the upcoming rain and emergency agencies are preparing themselves for expected rains.

Units are putting out extra barricades tonight to make sure the local community is safe during tomorrow's rain. If things get bad enough, the county can apply for funds for damage costs. Officials also want to advise residents to be aware of snakes and alligators that are probably going to be flushed out because of moderate floods.

"Right now we're in a monitoring mode and that's pretty much all we can do and preparing the citizens to make sure that they know that the rains are coming and to make sure that they take preparations," said Rodney Andreasen, the Director of the Jackson County Emergency Management Agency.
