Students got a little dirty Thursday, but it was all for science.
Headland Elementary School 2nd graders are having their first ever Soil Day.
Students were out on the field digging into the ground.
They observed and documented the layers of soil, they also made a dirt shirt and a dirt cup snack.
"It is part of our AMSTI program this year and what it does it just expnads their knowledge of the earth and our natural resources," said Jennifer Bradford, 2nd grade science teacher.
Students will continue to learn about soil until 5th grade.
