A Daleville man has died after a fatal accident in Walton County, Florida.
According to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol, Tommy Thompson Jr., 55 of Daleville, was driving a 1996 Ford Pickup on the outside westbound lanes of US Highway 98 at Walton County Road 395. A second vehicle, a ’99 Ford F250, was stopped a traffic light and was carrying an enclosed, box-style trailer.
Thompson’s Pickup failed to stop in time and collided with the rear of the trailer. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene, the driver of the vehicle carrying that trailer was not injured, but his vehicle did suffer an estimated $2,000 of damage.
Neither vehicle was carrying any additional passengers.
The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
