Rain was on the forecast for Labor Day morning at Panama City Beach.
But people came from near and far to experience the white sand beach.
"Well this is our favorite vacation destination we have been coming here for many many years actually celebrating our anniversary we decided to come to panama city to enjoy the beach this is kinda what we love," said Steven Jones, Panama City tourist.
"It is not a bad driving distance from Atlanta and we found a hotel that would take our dog to go to the beach," said Tia Brown, Panama City tourist.
"We are actually from Texas we are visiting we are getting married this week and we decided to come out today and just enjoy the shopping and it was raining this morning so we were a little nervous about that so we just wanted to shop and we will go to the beach later," said Maxine Ridling, Panama City tourist.
"It was a spontaneous birthday trip for Brenden and y'all had a dog friendly beach which was the winner," Dana Bledsoe, Panama City tourist.
For most vacationers checking the weather forecast was not a top priority.
"We picked this week kinda in advance I was looking at the weather forecast and we were coming rain or shine we knew you would a good time anyways," said Jones.
"I actually forgot to check the weather before we came and after we booked our hotel room and I looked at the weather and it said it was going to rain everyday and yesterday was good and this morning it wasn't that bad we just went out and had breakfast and now we are good," said Brown.
Good enough to keep businesses open.
"Despite of the rain business has been very good people are coming in, everything is great," said one local business owner.
Officials at the Panama City Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau say they did not see a decrease in tourism in June despite the rain.
Hotel owners say labor day is one of the busiest days of the year.
