Bainbridge College Reaching Out To Future Farmers

Bainbridge native Tommy Dollar wanted two things when he started college: A degree in agriculture and a school near the farm supply business he worked on.

But both didn't work out.

Dollar said, “Wanting to come home every weekend to check on things, it was a rough experience. I wanted to learn about agriculture, not math, English and science.”

Dollar ended up commuting from Athens, Georgia, a 4 ½-hour drive.

So he's thrilled to learn that students will have other options.

Dr. Richard Carvajal, President of Bainbridge College, said, “This is a very special day for us here in Southwest Georgia as we are signing an articulation agreement between Bainbridge State College and the university of Georgia. It will allow students from southwest Georgia to stay closer to home complete the first two years of an associate’s degree here.”

If students graduate with an associate’s degree and maintain a 2.8 accumulative GPA, they gain automatic acceptance into UGA’s Tipton campus.
