Some strong to severe thunderstorms moved through parts of the Wiregrass on Friday, February 21st. Some of those storms did produce gusty wind, heavy rain and lightning. Some of our viewers and followers told us what they saw in their communities during the weather event. Dee Cottle said that Covington County was “getting slammed right now wind & lighting at this time” and later added, “No power just went out.” Michael Tarver reported, “We had some pea sized hail earlier [in the] Screamer community” And, Justin Cureton commented that storms “have what hit Hodgesville road. Giant trees uprooted and two of those are across the road.”

Every Monday, News 4 This Morning has a segment called “Music Monday,” where we ask friends of our show to leave their feedback and/or picks related to a certain music or music-related topic. This week’s was favorite movie soundtracks. You can see some additional picks of favorites in the video above!

Monday, February 24th was unofficially Tortilla Chip Day. Several friends of our show told us what they enjoy to have with the popular corn-based crispy snack food. Lori Monroe enjoys “seasoned meat, cheese, lettuce and tomato” when she eats the chips and Shannon Phillips likes to have “[h]omemade jalapeno salsa” with them. OneBrokePony adds that, “[the Tostitos Multigrain Scoops by themselves are the best. They're good with salsa too, but I usually eat them without it.”

The 2014 Winter Olympics wrapped up in Sochi, Russia on Sunday, February 23rd. On Facebook and Twitter, we asked friends of our show what their favorite or most memorable moments from the Games were. Here are some more of those responses. Jackie Campesi responded, “I enjoyed the ice dancing, especially when USA won the Gold!” For Cobalt, it was “[w] hen Canada took both Gold medals in Hockey.” And, Grace Slagle responded, “All of it. I watched it everyday. All 16 of them.”

And, speaking of the Olympics, the 2nd News 4 This Morning Olympics wrapped up on Monday with the medal ceremonies. After Demetria, Paul, and Chris competed in a street hockey shootout, the goals were tallied along with the fan votes. Paul won the Bronze, Demetria the Silver, and Chris the Gold. The series was popular and received a lot of feedback! Braxton McLain responded, “A gold, silver.& a bronze!! They all deserve the gold!!!” Michael McClean said that “It was a fun time. Next time, you three should skate for team USA! You three got medals and Team USA, did not!” Karla Messenger comments, “Love you guys! More competitions......” And, Marjan from Canada says, “"Alright. So, my Flames here in Calgary could use some scoring. Chris, wanna try out up here? ;)"
