The video game company Wayforward, which recently produced the home console HD remastered version of the classic video game Ducktales, is hoping to raise money for a sequel to a portable game released years ago.
The company Wayforward is promoting a Kickstarter for the game, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, a sequel to a Game Boy Color game that was released to high acclaim years ago.
The game would allow the player to control Shantae, whose abilities include whipping enemies with her ponytail and belly dancing to transform into creatures. The player would guide her through many worlds, clashing with pirates and gaining new abilities on the way.
The goal of the fundraiser, which ends on October 4th, is $400,000. As of 4:30am on September 17th, they had raised $305,000 with seventeen days to go.
Those who do donate can receive various perks based on the amount that they contribute, ranging from desktop wallpaper, the game itself, a music CD or even becoming a background character in the game.
