Unique Town Names – Georgia Edition

There are thousands of cities and towns across Georgia, including some with very unique names and titles.
Jot 'Em Down Store, located in Pierce County, was named for a farming supply store in that location. It closed, but the name of the community stuck. It is located north of the community of Blackshear and near Georgia State Route 203.

Ty Ty, located in Tift County, is named for the trees that were located near a creek that goes by the same name. Ty Ty is also home to Darby Cottle Veasey, a softball player who was the first female athlete to have their number retired at Florida State University.

Santa Claus is not located at the North Pole, but instead but instead in Toombs County. Not only does the community have the name of Santa, but has roadways with names like Dasher Street, Rudolph Way, and December Drive.

Social Circle is not the latest competitor to Facebook, but stretched through two counties to the east of Atlanta—Walton and Newton. According to the community's website, the name may have originated from someone taken with the hospitality of the town in the early 1800s. A large railroad cuts through Social Circle's downtown.

Arcade may or may not be home to gamers, but is located in Jackson County.

Between is located the same distance between Athens and Atlanta, and that is where the name for this Walton County community comes from.

The community of Constitution is no more, a ghost town located to the south of Atlanta. More recently, the Metro State Prison for women on death row was located there, until that was closed in 2011.

One southern Georgia community is an Enigma, or to be more clear, is named Enigma! According to the official state of Georgia website, the founder of the town said it was “a puzzle to name” the town when it was founded in 1906.

It's an experiment that is located in Spalding County, specifically a community called Experiment! This central Georgia town gets its name for the University of Georgia Agriculture Experiment Station.

Flowery Branch is the current home of the training camp for the Atlanta Falcons pro football team, and according to the town's official website, got its name from a Native American term that translated into “Flowery Branch.”
