Tropical Storm Lorena Lashes Mexico Restort Areas

Tropical storm Lorena tore through the Mexican tourist hotspot of Los Cabos Friday (September 7) causing some flooding and wind damage as it moved south along the southern Baja California on the Pacific coast.

Area residents and local governments prepared for the worst by securing boats in area harbors and shuttering tourist areas and hotels.

The tropical storm continued to weaken as it moved over the port city of La Paz and over cooler water and a more stable air mass.
Heavy rains continue to batter some areas and flooding continues to be a major concern for local residents.

The powerful storm was spinning just west of Cabo San Lucas and is expected to continue to weaken until it winds down to a remnant low later this weekend.
