Three Arrested For Drug Trafficking in Headland

With spring break in full swing, Headland police say they're seeing more traffic on Highway 431.

With more people on the road, investigators say it's likely a traffic stop could turn into something bigger.

Headland Police say just before 9:30 p.m. on March 14th, Sergeant Tony Smith stopped a car on Highway 431 near the Citgo gas station
.
Officers found more than 2.5 pounds of marijuana.

They say the drugs have a street value of $4,000.

Police also seized $730, pills and other drug paraphernalia.

Twenty- seven yearold Daniel Lee Willis, 23-year-old Kimberly Ann Cathcart and 23-year-old Joshua Taylor Barrington of Panama City Beach, Florida, were arrested.

They're each charged with trafficking marijuana.

Bond was set at $150,000 for each suspect.

"The outcome would have been this would have been distributed on the streets of Panama City Beach, Florida during spring break while we have kids there that are trying to have a good time and enjoy themselves and unfortunately this is going to be sold on the streets," said Chief Mark Jones, Headland Police.

Chief Jones says he is waiting to hear back from forensics to see if the trio could face more charges.
