The Nintendo Wii video game system was a massive success for Nintendo, with games that had mass appeal like Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Just Dance and several others.
But, for longtime fans of the company, nothing says Nintendo like Mario!
And, on May 23rd, 2010 a critically-acclaimed Super Mario game came out for the Wii.
This was Super Mario Galaxy 2, a sequel to first Mario Galaxy game that came out years earlier.
Originally, this was going to be more of an expansion pack to that game, which sent Mario into space and had unique elements like gravity and bee power-ups.
But instead, Super Mario Galaxy 2 became a full sequel with numerous new levels and gameplay.
That sequel also brought in Yoshi as a character to be interacted with, and like the first Super Mario Galaxy, the game was a hit, selling over 6.7 million copies.
