A buddy cop movie with a unique pair made its debut on this day in movie history.

Cop and a Half made its debut in American theaters on April 2nd, 1993. The movie involves a veteran cop played by Burt Reynolds who is forced to team up with a young boy who wants to be a cop that has important information on a case. And, he’ll only share that information if he can be a detective.

The movie opened at #1 when it debuted, but dropped in its second week, earning a total just over $40 million. Noted movie critic Gene Siskel said it was the worst movie of 1993, but Roger Ebert gave the film a thumbs up in a positive review.
