Disney's 24th animated feature film was released on this day in history.

That film was The Fox & The Hound, released in theaters in the United States on July 10, 1981.

Featuring the voices of Mickey Rooney, Corey Feldman, Sandy Duncan and many others, The Fox & The Hound tells the story of how a fox named Tod and a hound dog named Copper become unlikely friends, despite the norm.

Many men that would go on to make big names for themselves like John Lasseter (Pixar), Tim Burton (Batman) and Brad Bird (The Incredibles) worked on this film early in their careers.

The film made over $63 million on a $12 million budget and would spawn a direct-to-video sequel about three decades later.
