An animated film about animals in Brazil was released on this day in history.

Rio, a computer-animated film from Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox, was released into American theaters on April 15th, 2011.

The story of the movie focuses on Blu, a Minnesota Macaw who eventually goes on an adventure to Rio de Janiero with another bird named Jewel.

The film is unique in that it is rated G in a time when most animated features are rated PG. It features the voice talents of Jesse Eisenberg, Jane Lynch, Jamie Foxx, and Anne Hathaway.

A sequel was released just this past weekend, Rio 2.
