It was a spin-off of one of the most successful sitcoms on the 1960s. And, Gomer Pyle – USMC would become a successful comedy show as well.

Gomer Pyle first appeared as a character in the Andy Griffith Show in 1963. That character, played by Jim Nabors, was a good-natured, but somewhat clumsy worker at a Mayberry gas station. For his own series, he joined the United States Marine Corps.

There, his upbeat, optimistic style clashed with Sergeant Vince Carter, played by Frank Sutton. The show would last through 1970 on CBS, with 150 episodes produced over 5 seasons. All 5 seasons have been released on DVD.
