As predicted by meteorologists locally and nationally, some storms became strong to severe in the Wiregrass on Monday.
The Storm Prediction Center had outlined much of the area under a slight risk over a day in advance. Storms formed in the afternoon and evening hours, bringing with them heavy rain, strong winds, and large hail.
According to the SPC, hail in excess of a quarter-inch was reported near Kinsey in Houston County. There were also several reports of trees down across various parts of the county. Some residents said power was out in some locations.
There were no reports of tornadoes in the area.
