Record-Breaking Temperatures Mark a Cool, Wet Southeast Weekend


Several record lows and low highs were broken across the Southeastern United States over the past weekend.

Here are some of the record temperatures as noted by the various branches of the National Weather Service across the Southeastern United States for the weekend of Saturday, August 17th and Sunday, August 18th:

Alabama:
• Dothan – Record Low High of 72 for August 17th
• Muscle Shoals– Record Low High of 74 for August 17th (Previous Record: 76 Set Back in 1928)
• Huntsville – Record Low High of 71 for August 17th (Previous Record: 78 Set Back in 1967)
• Birmingham - Record Low High of 75 (Previous Record: 77 from 1911)
• Huntsville - Record Low High of 71 (Previous Record: 73 from 1948)

Mississippi:
• Tupelo – Record Low High of 82 for August 17th (Previous Record: 83 Set Back in 1992)
• Meridian – Record Low High of 80 for August 17th (Previous Record: 82 Set Back in 1895)
• Mississippi - Record Low High of 79 (Previous Record: 85 from 1992)

North Carolina:
• Charlotte – Record Low High of 66 for August 17th (Previous Record: 71 Set Back in 1992)
