Hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses are without power after ice and snow brought down trees and limbs in the Northeast Wednesday.

Some 750,000 customers lost electricity in Pennsylvania, mostly in the Philadelphia suburbs.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie declared a state of emergency, and tens of thousands of customers lost power in the state.

Although wintry weather forced the cancellation of some 2,900 flights, fewer cancellations are expected for Thursday.
