Notable Home Video Releases: October 22, 2013

Scary movies old and new, supervillains and girls and horses team up on retail shelves for this week’s notable home video releases.

These are some of the notable releases for October 22nd, 2013 in Region 1 (North America) coming to retail on Blu-Ray and/or DVD:

The Conjuring (New Line, Rated R, DVD & Blu-Ray) - Allegedly based on a true story, the conjuring follows a pair of investigators who travel to help a family who are dealing with a dark presence in a farmhouse.

The Vincent Price Collection (Shout! Factory, Blu-Ray Only) – This release goes back several decades to the 1960s and 1970s for a set of films. This set of films all stars an actor known for his very distinct voice, Vincent Price. It’s a collection of six of the actor's horror films including the haunted palace, the Fall of the House of Usher and the Abominable Dr. Phibes.

Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics (Warner Home Video; DVD & Blu-Ray) -
They say every hero needs a villain and that includes superheroes. Necessary Evil is a documentary that takes a look at the villains of DC comics--the foes of greats like Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern.

Barbie & Her Sisters: A Pony Tale (Universal Studios; DVD & Blu-Ray) - Another new animated Barbie feature is hitting home video today as well. It's called Barbie & Her Sisters: A Pony Tale and focuses on the discovery of a mysterious wild horse...the direct-to-video release features the voice talents of Claire Corlett and Kazumi Evans.
