A young boy in North Carolina is a victim of bullying, because of a particular animated series that he is proudly a fan of.

Michael is an 11-year-old student who lives in North Carolina. Michael was bullied by some at his school for being a Brony, a fan of the popular animated series, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Because of the bullying, Michael attempted to take his own life.

Michael’s 13-year-old brother, Angel, quickly responded to the situation and helped paramedics and fire responders to arrive to the situation quickly, possibly saving Michael’s life.

Michael is alive and in the hospital, but has suffered brain damage from his injuries.
Michael’s family is staying by his side in the hospital, but he also support from all over the world. The community of fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has responded all across the world.

The Bronies and their supporters and friends have raised nearly $35,000 for Michael through online fundraising. Some have donated a few dollars, others large amounts. A live-stream event for charity took place over the weekend. Many voice actors and other talent connected with the show itself, as well as many well-known Bronies took part in that stream event.

We’ve included links to the donation page in our “Links” section of this article. News 4 This Morning would like to thank Michael’s family for communicating with us for this story during this difficult time. Out of respect for the family, we are not including the last names of the family members in this story.
