Dothan City Election Forum (Matt McClellan)

There are only 11 days until the Dothan city election.

And, a sorority wants people to hear what the candidates have to say.

The Kappa Pi Omega chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority hosted a summer candidates forum at Grandview elementary school Thursday night.

Candidates from districts 1, 2, and 4 talked about the problems facing Dothan and solutions they would put into play.

Linda Garrett, a past president of the sorority hosting the forum says, “"We often sit back and complain among ourselves, among our friends and family, but we don’t educate ourselves about the people we are electing to represent us, what their issues are, how their views may align with our views, so it's important to have forums like this so people can come out and hear for themselves."

Members say educating the public is the first step toward positive change in the community.
