Larry Bell Announcement (Katrice Nolan)

We are about 4 months away from the Republican primaries and candidates wanting to represent districts in Houston County are ready to serve.

Larry Bell announced today he is running for the Houston County Commission District 4 seat.

Bell is a Dothan native and a local businessman,

If elected bell says his philosophy is simple.

"Work hard. I’ll be here, I’ll be at the commission meeting, I’ll be available. There’s one thing I learned a long time ago, in business, if a customer called me I answered my telephone, I talk to them, I might give them the answer thy need right then they needed but I will give them an answer."

Bell also says his number one priority is to help bring more jobs to Houston County.

Elections are in June.

Billy Beasley Reaction (AP)

Alabama State Senator Beasley says he is going to run for re-election instead of running for Governor.

Beasley says it was a difficult decision, but says he has on obligation to the people in his Legislative District.

He had considered a bid for Governor on a platform of expanding Alabama’s Medicaid program.

In the past, Beasley criticized Governor Robert Bentley’s decision not to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.

He says he hopes a Democrat steps up to challenge Bentley.
