CBS Home Entertainment continues to plan rolling out new enhanced, high-definition releases of popular Star Trek television series throughout 2013.
Star Trek: The Next Generation's fourth season will be released on Blu-Ray on July 30th, 2013. Like the previous three seasons, the show has been reconstructed from the ground-up for its high-definition release—using the original film elements.
Season 4 contains 26 episodes including “The Best of Both Worlds, Part II,” “Devil's Due,” “Clues,” “Night Terrors” and “Redemption, Part I.” It will also include many bonus features such as all-new audio commentaries, original episode promos, an in-depth look at the show's art department, deleted scenes, a gag reel and more. A separate, individual release of the 2-parter “Redemption,” combined into two parts, will also be released on the same day.
On August 20th, 2013, the second season of Star Trek: Enterprise will be released. Featuring episodes such as “Dead Stop,” “The Catwalk,” “Judgment,” and “The Expanse,” the 26-episode release will feature remastered high-definition video. It will also feature extras such as new audio commentaries, an all new in-depth documentary on the season, deleted scenes and more.
All of the above releases will be Blu-Ray only. The original series of Star Trek has already been released in its entirely on Blu-Ray, with remastered video and optional new computer-generated special effects.
