High Winds Close Floating Bridge in Seattle

More than 40,000 Seattle residents were without power Saturday afternoon as windy weather took down trees and power lines around Western Washington.

Shortly after 11 a.m., the State Route 520 bridge was closed because of high winds and drivers were abandoning their vehicles.

The bridge across Lake Washington was reopened shortly after 1 p.m. It was the first time wind had closed the bridge since Dec. 15, 2006.
