Before they all became Chuck E. Cheese locations, another family arcade and entertainment franchise in the 80s and early 90s was Showbiz Pizza Place.

Like its main competitor during the 1980s, Showbiz Pizza Place offered a variety of video and arcade games, pizza to eat, and a stage show featuring anthropomorphic animatronics.

The mascot for Showbiz was “Billy Bob,” a large bear with a hillbilly theme. Children could also ride small, indoor rides and play in large ball pits.

Eventually, the company behind Showbiz purchased the assets of Chuck E. Cheese and began re-branding Showbiz into Chuck E. Cheese.
