Cleanup Begins in Alabama Town Impacted By Storms

Cleanup is getting underway in Atmore, Alabama the day after severe weather punched through homes and businesses in the small town.

There were few storm victims but those that were affected got hit hard.

This burke's outlet still looks like someplace a mythical giant decided to take a seat but all things considered, this could have been a lot worse.

Security camera video shows the fury of the storm as it wrecks a gas pump before cutting the power and the camera.

Local officials say they're lucky the storm hit on a Sunday morning--a time when most places are closed.

Most homeowners are dealing with minimal storm damage except for people like hazel smith.

The storm this large post from her boat shed right through her roof and into her bedroom.

The storm toppled this tree in Ocella Vandenberg's front yard, it too came smashing through the roof and wrecked in inside but thankfully no one was hurt.

Monday was a day of assessing the damage before the real clean up can begin--people await word from their insurance companies about what will be paid for.

At this point there's no telling when some of these hardest hit businesses will be back open again.
