Demetria McClenton sat down with Sean Sporman, the producer of News 4 This Morning, during Live at Lunch on Tuesday as part of our ongoing “Inside WTVY” segment.

WTVY News 4 This Morning airs every weekday from 5am to 7am on WTVY.

Hello! This is Sean Sporman! Thank you for stopping by this article to see the interview

I want to thank each and every one of you who watch News 4 This Morning--either on air, online, or those of you who just stop by our webchannel to check out our stories there!

I wanted to expand a bit on some of the topics we discussed in the interview.

What does a producer do? In addition to everything mentioned in the actual interview, the producer also has to make sure stories "flow"--for example, that "hard news" stories such as crime and accidents don't come right before a light entertainment news story. I also edit new video needed for the show, among other responsbilities, such as sharing our stories on social media.

What are some of the new things you can find in the Morning Show? In addition to new segments Web Wednesday and our web-exclusive Morning Moments, there is also a quick wrap of top local stories at about :30 past the hour. I also try to bring a unique spin on entertainment news to the show--every Tuesday, we highlight home video releases, for example. And, there's other unique entertainment stories such as the Bronies--adult fans of the latest My Little Pony animated series-- and video games, which are growing amongst big parts of our audience: women and older adults. Or, those unusual unoffical holidays. And, occasionally, we'll bring in live feeds from other places--one example, we carried the launch of a Russian space rocket live!

Interest in Weather On the Morning Show, I try to cover any and all tropical systems during the season. I also coordinate closely with Meteorologist Chris Havely to make sure he has all the time he needs for his weather segments, and pass along any breaking information we recieve from viewers, for example.

Thanks again, everyone! And, be sure to tune in every morning starting at 5am to watch Chris, Demetria, and Paul for all the latest news, sports, and weather!

Sean Sporman, WTVY’s overnight producer, is rarely seen on camera at his current position, but has been seen a couple of times previously on News 4 This Morning—as the “Russian Judge” during the Morning Olympics back in 2012, and in a brief cameo on his birthday delivering the final weather.

In the video above, he discusses what a producer does, what unique segments and stories can be found on News 4 This Morning, and more!

Below, you'll find links to some of the unique segments and stories from the show that he has produced.
