Florida Highway Patrol Launches An Awareness Campaign

Move over! Two simple words that could mean the difference between life and death for first responders along Florida highways.

In an effort to bring new awareness to Florida's move over law. The Florida Highway Patrol and law enforcement agencies have declared June as "Move Over-Slow Down-Save a Life" month".
During the month-long safety campaign, officials will work together to better educate the public of the move over law. If ignored violators are subject to hefty fines.

"It's great, I think it's a great thing to promote the awareness of this because I'm sure there's a lot of people who just don't know anything about it," said Paul Demaree, a sergeant with the Chipley Police Department.

Florida officials want to remind drivers to slow down to 20 mp if they are unable to move-over due to a two-lane highway.
