Fort Rucker Freedom Fest 2010 set for Saturday
Fort Rucker’s Freedom Fest 2010 is Saturday, July 3 beginning at 4 p.m. on the parade field off Andrews Avenue. Organizers are prepared to accommodate and entertain 15,000 or more visitors. Admission is free, and the public is cordially invited and encouraged to arrive early.
On-post parking and shuttle bus service will be available. Parking areas will be designated nearest the gate guests enter.
The Children’s Fun Zone will be filled with activities for children of all ages. Moonwalks, bouncy castles, slip and slides, pony rides, face painting and a children’s obstacle course are among some of the fun activities for youngsters.
Guests can experience firsthand the aircraft of Army aviation by visiting the interactive helicopter displays. Attendees will be able to get up close and sit in the cockpit while learning about the aircraft from the men and women who fly them.
Many food vendors will offer fest favorites including shaved ice, ice cream, funnel cakes, roasted corn, pizza, burgers, hot dogs, cool refreshments and beverages of all kinds.
In the interest of public safety and security, some restrictions are in effect:
--All vehicles are subject to inspection at all gates. Drivers must show a valid driver’s license, current vehicle registration and proof of insurance.
Also, any person riding in a vehicle who is 16 or older must have picture
--Motorcyclists driving on Fort Rucker must abide by Alabama laws in regards to wearing personal protective equipment. Soldiers must wear appropriate attire and personal protective equipment as stated in post safety regulations.
--All coolers, tote bags, backpacks and containers will not be allowed on shuttle buses or grounds. The exception will be baby care items.
--No fireworks of any kind, glass containers, pets, Rollerblades, bicycles, skateboards or scooters.
--No weapons of any kind, including guns, knives, mace and pepper spray.
