Air Force Doctor Explains Air Force Medicine

PANAMA CITY, Fla. — On behalf of the Community Health Task Force, Lt. Col. (Dr.) Phillip Cover, 325th Medical Group Deputy Commander and Chief of Medical Staff, will speak about the Air Force Medical Service at 3 p.m. on June 17 at the Bay County Library.

The AFMS delivers medical service to just over 2 million eligible beneficiaries, has an annual budget of approximately $5.4 billion and runs 75 military treatment facilities, including 16 hospitals and medical centers.

“Our servicemen and women fight to protect the freedoms of our country every day,” said Lt. Col. Cover. “As a doctor in the Air Force, it is my responsibility to make sure our service members and their families know what they are entitled to and receive the care they deserve.”

The free event is open to everyone and is an opportunity for community members to learn about the history of the AFMS, the current state of Air Force medicine, programs used to support and care for beneficiary populations, and much more.

Media interested in attending should contact Mary Matthews at (850) 872-4455 Ext. 1210 no later than June 16. Community members seeking additional information about the event or the Community Health Task Force can contact Mary as well.
