MONTGOMERY, AL (05/05/2010)(readMedia)-- The Alabama Army National Guard's 877th Engineer Battalion out of Hamilton, Fayette, Jasper and Northport is returning home Friday May 7, 2010.
The entire battalion was activated and deployed in support of military operations in Afghanistan.
Members returning to the Hamilton armory are scheduled to arrive at 620
Sixth Street S.W., Hamilton, Ala. 35570-1847, between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Members returning to the Fayette armory are scheduled to arrive at 2335 Sixth St. Avenue N.E., Fayette, Ala. 35555-1162, between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Members returning to the Greenville armory are scheduled to arrive at 1053 Pineapple Highway, Greenville, Ala. 36037-1053 between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Members returning to the Northport armory are scheduled to arrive at 2509 44th Avenue, Northport, Ala. 35476-3635 between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.
The general public is invited and encouraged to welcome home the more than 300 Soldiers of the 877th.
This deployment was the second extended overseas deployment for the 877th in six years. The entire battalion deployed to Iraq in 2003 and took part in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
