Morgan Oglesby has been playing the guitar since he was 12 years old, dreams of being a big-named guitarist and he's now writing his own songs.

While his favorite musical genre is heavy metal, perhaps his best work yet is a rock ballad written for his brother Jesse, who is serving in Afghanistan.

The ballad is titled "Carry on the Blood-stained Banner.”

It is a personal outlet for Morgan, although he will boldly tell you he was never sad about his brother going to war.

“I think that Jesse is serving his country to the best of his ability. I respect that a lot,” said Oglesby.

Morgan says he gets worried about his brother. So, Morgan used what he witnessed around him to honor his brother and all other military men and women.

“The last thing my dad said was come back standing tall or on your shield. I'm like, that's pretty powerful,” said Oglesby.

He used that message in his lyrics.

"Cause you're a soldier and that's the way to be… you fight your Nation's battles... just to keep us free," writes Oglesby in his song.

“That's what the soldiers are out there doing, they're protecting our American flag and the land it represents,” said Oglesby. “It's hard to explain, he's out there serving his country; he’s a soldier.”

Morgan's brother Jesse is at home right now. He's finished half of his tour. He wasn't available for comment, but Morgan says his brother is enjoying his time off and is proud of the support he's received locally.
