ATHENS, Ala. (AP) - About 80 National Guard members will leave Athens on Father's Day, heading to Iraq where they will train Iraqi police for the next 12 months.
A send-off for family and friends is set for 4 p.m. Sunday at Beasley Field for the 203rd Military Police Battalion.
Originally, about 150 men and women were told they were going to Iraq, but the unit's mission was changed, reducing the number to be deployed to about 80.
