HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. – The Air Force recently announced the nomination of Brig. Gen. O. G. Mannon, special assistant to the commander of Air Force Special Operations Command, for appointment to the rank of major general.
“It’s an exciting, but humbling time, and a tribute to the people we’ve worked with over 30 years,” General Mannon said. “I am grateful to be able to continue to serve in the Air Force.”
General Mannon has served as AFSOC’s special assistant to the commander since June, and has been assigned to be the vice commander following Maj. Gen. Kurt Cichowski.
General Mannon has spent most of his career in Air Force special operations, commanding special operations forces at the squadron, group and wing levels.
The general has also served as the deputy director for Special Operations, Joint Staff at the Pentagon, and previously served as the 82nd Training Wing commander at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas.
General Mannon will pin after Senate confirmation.
A ir Force Special Operations Command is a major command of the U.S. Air Force and the Air Force Component of U.S. Special Operations Command.
AFSOC provides Air Force Special Operations Forces for worldwide deployment and assignment to unified combatant commanders.
