TOKYO (AP) -- Japanese police say that parts of a tunnel have collapsed on a highway west of Tokyo, trapping an unknown number of vehicles as smoke from a fire inside prevented rescuers from approaching.
A police spokesman, Yoshihiro Fukutani, said police were still trying to learn the exact situation inside the Sasago Tunnel, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) outside the city, after parts of a wall inside collapsed early Sunday morning.
Television footage showed police vehicles, fire trucks and ambulances massed outside the tunnel's entrance. A man who said he saw the collapse and alerted authorities to the emergency managed to escape after he was ordered to flee. The roof and windows of another vehicle parked on the roadside outside the tunnel were crushed; the injured occupants reportedly taken to a hospital.

TOKYO (AP) -- Japan's space agency says it is investigating a possible leak of data about its Epsilon rocket due to a computer virus.
The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency says an infected computer was disconnected from its networks after a virus was found earlier this month. It is checking to see if any data was siphoned from it.
JAXA said in a statement that information about the Epsilon, due to be launched next year, its M-5 rocket and H2A and H2B rockets may have been compromised.
The agency said it is tightening security to prevent any further leaks.
Japan is hoping to compete with the U.S., Russia, Europe and others as a satellite launch vehicle provider and has developed the Epsilon to reduce costs and speed up launch times.

MILAN (AP) -- The Italian news agency ANSA says a wall at the Pompeii archeological site has collapsed following days of heavy rain.
The collapse Friday of a two-meter (six-foot) section of wall in an area closed to tourists is the latest in a series that has raised concern about the state of the cultural treasure. In 2010, a 2,000-year-old house collapsed in the ancient Roman city that was once used by gladiators to train before combat.
The Italian government and the European Commission last spring announced a project to spend (euro) 105 million ($136 million) to secure the Pompeii site.
Some 3 million people each year visit the ancient city south of Naples that was destroyed in A.D. 79 by a volcanic eruption from Mount Vesuvius.

PARIS (AP) -- A pan-European stealth combat drone demonstrator has taken its first test flight in southern France.
French defense company Dassault-Aviation is lead contractor on the "Neuron" project launched in 2005 involving firms from France, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Greece and Switzerland to provide a test bed for developing future combat aircraft.
Its successful flight took place Saturday near Istres.
Program officials say the Neuron is not a prototype, but aims to help European countries explore stealth technology for possible use -- years from now -- in future drones or successors of fighters like the Eurofighter or France's Rafale. The program will also seek innovations like the release of air-to-surface weapons from an internal bay.
Many experts believe armed drones will play an increasing role in the future of air combat.
