Wind, Difficult Terrain Fuel Wildfires in New Zealand, Australia

Efforts to extinguish wildfires in New Zealand and Australia are being hampered by windy conditions and difficult terrain.

Several houses in a New Zealand town had to be evacuated when a wall of fire 65-feet tall threatened them.

Several fires are burning in Australia. One was caused by a gas bottle exploding in a campground.

Fifty tourists had to evacuate the area, but no one was injured. Authorities believe that fire could burn for weeks.
