Top 10 Twitter Trends of 2010


With tens-of-millions of people now on Twitter, the micro-blogging site is becoming one of the places to find out what people are talking about around the world. So Twitter analyzed more than 25 billion tweets and put together a list of the top 10 trends from 2010.

At number 10 is Paul the Octopus. He accurately predicted World Cup soccer matches.

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” takes the number 9 spot.

Bieber fever swept the nation gaining the teen pop star the number 8 spot.

Google's android operating system takes the number 7 spot followed by the good and bad of the Apple iPhone at number 6.

The vuvuzela became symbolic of the World Cup in South Africa. It takes the number 5 spot.

At number 4, the Haitian earthquake with relief agencies using the site to drum up support

The movie "Inception" takes the bronze.

World Cup soccer comes in as the second biggest tweeting topic of the year.

And the thing tweeters cared about the most was the Gulf oil spill and venting their frustrations with BP.
