Subtropical Storm Melissa Starting to Lose Strength in Atlantic

After peaking with sustained winds of 65 miles per hour, Subtropical Storm Melissa is starting lose steam in the Atlantic Ocean.

The storm is now a minimal subtropical storm as it continues to move to the northeast. Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center expect the storm to continue to weaken as the days progress.

There is a chance that Melissa could transition into a fully-featured Tropical Storm, but that will likely not last long as it is expected to go post-tropical after that.

Although a direct impact will likely not occur, parts of Bermuda, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas could see large swells and rip currents from the storm.
