Police: 11 People Slain in Acapulco, Mexico

ACAPULCO, Mexico (AP) -- Mexican police say 11 people were slain
over the weekend in the Pacific coast resort of Acapulco.

A statement from public safety officials in Guerrero state notes
that eight of the victims were killed Sunday and three of the
victims on Saturday.

The officials say that in one of Sunday's incidents, four men
were gunned down by assailants firing from two passing cars. A
36-year-old man was injured. In the other, authorities discovered
the bodies of a 23-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man who had
been shot to death.

In a separate section of the city, authorities found the bodies
of two men estimated to be in their 20s who also had been shot to
death.

Acapulco has experienced a spike of drug-related violence in
recent months.
