Lithuania's Aidis Kruopis managed to avoid a crash that blocked part of the road on Monday (April 22) and outsprinted Marco Coledan to cross the line first to win the second stage of the Tour of Turkey.

Germany's Andre Greipel was involved in the pile-up, which occurred in the final mile of the track from Alanya to Antalya, but managed to finish high enough to take over as overall leader from compatriot Marcel Kittel.

Kruopis (Orica-Greenedge) was one of the few riders to evade the crash. Those on the left side of the road piled into each other but some of those on the right managed to ride past.

The Lithuanian is now third in the overall standings, behind Kittel, with Coledan fourth.
