The first Tropical Storm of the 2012 Pacific Hurricane season has formed.
As of 8pm Pacific (10pm Central) time, Tropical Storm Aletta marks the very first Tropical Storm to have formed the Pacific Ocean.
The storm is well in the Pacific, over 650 miles south/southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico.
Aletta currently has sustained winds of 40mph and is expected to move westward. Tropical storm winds currently extend up to 35 miles away from the center of the storm.
Some additional strenghtening is possible over the next 24 hours, although weakening is expected beyond that.
At this time, there are no watches and warnings in effect from the storm, as it is not currently, nor is it projected to affect any major landmasses at this time.
The Altantic Tropical season begins June 1st.
