The first tropical depression of the 2014 season in the Eastern Pacific Ocean has formed, with a storm well to the south of Mexico.
Tropical Depression 1-E formed Thursday night and is currently over 600 miles to the south-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico.
As of the 4am advisory, the storm has sustained winds of 35 miles per hour and is moving at 5 miles an hour to the west/northwest. This is taking it away from land.
Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center expect 1-E to gain strength later today, which would make it Tropical Storm Amanda.
