Battering waves and strong winds have sunk one cargo ship and are threatening another in the Black sea near Istanbul.
Media reports say 12 crewmembers were aboard the coal ship, "the Volgo balt 199" when it got caught in a heavy storm.
The reports say at least one crewmember died, two others were rescued and the rest are missing.
The other ship reportedly with 14 crew members is drifting in heavy surf, with thick black smoke pouring from its stacks.
