A heavy snowfall that started on Tuesday hit many parts of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province and northern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, disrupting road traffic in the regions.
In Xunke County in the city of Heihe in Heilongjiang Province, accumulated snow was up to 37 centimeters deep by 8:00 on Wednesday morning. Highways in the county were all closed and passenger bus services were halted due to the snow.
On Wednesday morning, about 300 passengers were stranded at Heihe port at the Heilongjiang River due to the suspended ferry service on the frozen waterway bordering Russia.
Various measures are being taken at the border checkpoint at the port, to ensure the safe and smooth travel by passengers.
