TIJUANA, Mexico (AP) - A U.S. Consulate official in Tijuana has confirmed that two U.S. citizens were shot to death as they waited at a Tijuana-area border crossing to enter the United States.
Consulate spokesman Joseph L. Crook said Tuesday U.S. authorities are working with Mexican officials but offered no other details.
San Diego businessman Matt Pelot says Kevin Romero and Sergio Salcido were killed while on their way to work at his company early Monday.
Pelot says the men had worked for more than a year for West Coast Beverage Maintenance.
He says he learned the men were killed from Romero's sister.
Pelot says that 28-year-old Romero and 25-year-old Salcido were hard-working employees who had moved to Mexico to be able to live
on the beach.
