Fidel Castro appeared on Cuban television Monday for the first time since September 2007.
He talked about the danger he perceives of a war by the United States and Israel against Iran.
Quoting military experts and sociologists, Castro expressed scorn for what he calls "the pretext" for hostilities with Iran.
He warned the U.S. not to expect the country to crumble before an attack the way the Iraqis did, saying Iraq was divided at the time and Iran is not.
The appearance comes days after Castro was seen visiting a national scientific center, his first public visit in four years.
