Van der Sloot Detained in Peru Killing

LIMA, Peru (AP) - Authorities in Chile say when they arrested Joran van der Sloot, he was in a taxi, headed toward the country's coast. They say he didn't resist.

Van der Sloot is wanted in Peru in the murder of a young woman there on Sunday.

Exactly five years earlier, American teenager Natalee Holloway disappeared in Aruba -- and van der Sloot is still considered the main suspect in that case. The Dutchman was twice arrested, but was never charged.

As for the death in Peru, police say the victim had been seen with the suspect in the hours before she died. They say she was found lying face down on the floor of van der Sloot's hotel room. Police say her neck was broken. They say there was no sign of sexual abuse.

A lawyer for van der Sloot in New York is cautioning against a rush to judgment. He says van der Sloot has been "falsely accused of murder" before, and now he is a "usual suspect" when there's foul play.
