Blast Kills 6 Near Pakistan School

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) - Police say a roadside bomb has killed six people, including three foreigners, near a girls' school in
northwest Pakistan.

Local police chief Mumtaz Zarin Khan said the blast in Lower
Dir's Shahi Koto area was remote controlled.

As part of its offensive against militants in the northwest's
Swat Valley, the Pakistani army has carried out operations in Lower Dir. Local tribes have also set up militias to root out insurgents taking refuge in the area.

Security forces and girls' schools have both been frequently
attacked by militants in Pakistan's northwest.
