Meet 12-year-old Alex Jeffers. One of Alex's favorite trades, is to make people laugh.

But before we get to that lesson, lets talk music.

I played guitar for a while, I got on piano. I also play bassoon which is the supposedly hardest instrument in band, I'm saying supposedly because it's really easy for me," explained Alex.

Now back to that lesson.
Aside from talent shows, Alex has performed in two comedy shows in New York.

"At first I feel very very nervous, then after my first two jokes I get to where I am very comfortable on stage and it helps a lot when the audience laughs."

"Some jokes just come up right off the top of my head," said Alex.

Yet most of the time, Alex says he starts off thinking about what he wants to make a joke on.

"Random things around the world lots of jokes have come from things my sister has said."

"He doesn't just perform, he really lives it," said Ruth Jeffers Alex's mom.

And that's visible through the dynamic in the house.

"I used to not laugh as near as much as I do now."

And that makes sense now that she has a live-in comedian.

Alex says right now he has no idea what he wants to be when he grows up.
He says he may dip into acting or just taking over the family business.
