Wii U Sales Exceed 400 Thousand on First Week

Black Friday has come and gone, and one of the hot gifts on many people's list was the new Nintendo video game console, the Wii U.

According to Nintendo, over four hundred thousand Wii U systems were sold during the first week of its release in North America.

The system launched with over twenty games, including new titles from the Super Mario Brothers (New Super Mario Bros. U) and Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic and Sega All Star Racing Transformed) franchises.

The system also hit the shelves overseas in Europe Friday the 30th of November--where sales were strong as well.

Although there has been speculation about the next Microsoft X-Box or Sony Playstation home video game consoles, no firm plans have been announced at this time.
